I don't know for sure but it doesn't look like a break caused by wood too dry. Looks like the back failed to me. Did you remove all nicks and tool marks? Was the back glassy smooth?...

If it is bad wood, is it lots of earlywood in it? I have ash with paperlike quality and 50% earlywood, that might be a reason.
